  • Thanks! Glad you guys enjoyed it.
  • There’s a black metal trim that is screwed into the top, that holds it in place.

  • Hmmm. I don’t believe mine has anything for the sides of the marquee.

  • acblunden2 said: Might be a repro. The last BB I picked up came up with that exact marquee. I thought it was OG when I picked it up. It even had a complete white backing. But the guy I got the cab from told me he ordered it from somewhere, confirming it was repro. Reason I think it is a repro, it has a thin clear border around the image just like the one I have. All the other OG marquee’s I have, the image covers the plexi/lexan panel edge to edge.
  • Maybe someone here on the forum that has a confirmed CoTA BB marquee can confirm if there is a thin clear boarder around the image to be sure. Click to expand…

  • wow this cabinet is humongous. biggest arcade I have ever moved. barely fit by a centimeter under beams and rubbed the ceiling. just wow but the enormous amount of room on the control panel is excellent not all scroutched in like normal 2player dynamo cabs. some operator made a giant door in it for a bill acceptor! lol wow if these cabs could tell stories, mine was a world class deluxe bowling lol. I have an A usa board. looking for a green grand master challenge B board if anyone has one for sale. I am very excited about this cab, does anyone know what type of wood the Q sounds are made of? the front cab of mine has an internal stress fracture near the coin door maybe by a big boot? lol
  • I am just curious for future restore reasons. I ended up taping the marquee to glass and it came out nice.

  • The 2nd gen cabs are made of mostly melamine, which is a particle board coated with a plastic finish. Think pre-made shelving boards at Home Depot. It’s a kind of laminate, but less durable. Pretty much everything blue is melamine.
  • As far as I know the 1st gen cabs are vinyl. I’m sure ACblunden will correct me if I’m wrong. [emoji14]
  • Other parts such as the base are plywood.
  • I love the 2nd gen cab, but they are beasts, easily one of the biggest. At almost 7 foot tall I can’t even put casters on mine so I have it on furniture sliders to move it around.

  • acblunden2 said: Yup, that is the appeal of this cab for me; the shoulder space. I need it. Love the marquee dimensions too and the plane of the CP; almost perpendicular to the floor which is easier on the wrists.
  • MDF with some very thick black vinyl wrapping them.
  • One of mine is cracked there too! It came from a roller rink->an employee’s private collection->me. How’s that for a story! There are no brackets on the side of the marquee. So there is some slight light bleeding. Not an issue in a commercial environment, but in a home environment, I can see how one would want to improve on that. Enjoy bud!
  • 1st Gen BB’s were made of melamine too. I picked up one from Nickel City in San Jose as he was closing up shop that was made of melamine. He had like 2-3 other Gen 1’s that were made of melamine too. Don’t know if the melamine versions were made by 3Koam or Dynamo. I suspect they were made by Dynamo though. I’ll check when I can and report back. Click to expand…

  • Tall n’ heavy is right! Once I have the cabinets in place, I try not to move them around until CAX time. A multi-CPS2 kit is almost mandatory for these, because moving these fuckers just to swap a board is a huge pain (I wish they had designed it so the PCB was accessible from the front). I also have to place them in the back half of my garage, away from where the garage door rolls up. They just won’t clear.
  • Get yourself two stools and they are the best cabinets for playing any Capcom fighter! Killer sound. A lot of elbow room. The monitor is at the right angle. Just huge and beautiful. These things really made a statement when I first saw them in the arcades: Street Fighter is serious business!

  • thanks, our most people using happ competition 8 ways sticks?

  • If you search around there are several threads going into detail about how Happ Comps are not even close to what you remember playing on in the late 80’s early 90’s. They are only the same in name. The link above for the ILs is the way to go. IL made the good Happ sticks. Focus Attack is offering them at prices competitive with Happs, so it’s a no-brainer.
