  • The Slam Masters posted above is actually mine. It has tags on the back labeling it a Slam Masters and the control panel isn’t all hacked up so it looks to be 100% original. Whether it’s a dedicated or just kit put into this style cab who knows but I know the dual big blue cab is thought of as the dedicated for this game. The marquee is definitely not homemade at least in terms of quality it’s made of plexi with the art printed on the backside like other big blue marquees.
  • Also for the first big blue cab I believe The Punisher came in a black cab exactly like Champion Edition/Captain Commando. I recall a KLOver offering to sell me an oversized Punisher marquee so those are floating out there too…how common though who knows. From time to time I like to run The Punisher pcb in the Slam Masters cab.

  • Very cool to see the different versions that were made.

  • I own a “short” version marquee like the AVP one pictured above. Along with the control panel resembling the X-Men VS Street Fighter also.
  • Unfortunately the tags on the back are too far gone, along with a missing back door, so I have no idea what it was originally. But I’m close to bringing it back to it’s former glory. Picked it up w/ no glass, no monitor, no marquee top bracket, and missing back door.
  • The game that was in there (to my surprise) is a Marvel Super Heroes VS Street Fighter. The marquee box, control panel and cab itself was marked - RF849
  • Not something I did.. but it’s hidden behind and under everything so not visable when the cab it put together and against the wall. So I plan on leaving it as it is.

Serial/tag references:

  • Crappy picture, but here is one of mine. It has the large marquee, but it’s off for now. I also have the original CE Big Blue.

  • that’s a 2 player control panel and I assume STD stands for Standard, so either it’s one-half of the two-cabinet slam masters setup, or the game came in both 2 player and 4 players versions apart from the two-cabinet setup.

  • The captain Commando most definately has dedicated sideart. I own one with the sideart, really nice design like on the flyer.

  • I’m surprised they didn’t make a big marquee for SFII Hyper Fighting. My big blue CE is running Hyper Fighting but still has the regular marquee.

  • Nice! I was messing around with launching a small website cataloging whatever information we could pull on this topic, but of course I got lazy. Now we have a thread!

  • I’m just finishing up a restore of Q-Sound v1. I’ll upload the paint color and any pictures you’d like! This was shipped as a Darkstalkers Dedicated.

  • Two more big marquees to add to the list: Night Warriors and Star Gladiator(!)
  • The only two left I think I have questions about are Cyberbots and Toshinden 2. I don’t recall big marquees for either but I also haven’t encountered many of them in the wild.

  • Generally I’d say there are a plethora of big blues in socal but recently they seem to have slowed to a trickles. Only two showed up at this past auction and none were in the previous auction. This time there was one original CE style and one CapCommando style. Usually you get at least a big buck hunter in a q sound or something.

  • Are the CP’s interchangeable between the first two non Qsound cabs and can they still be made Qsound with the right amp/wiring?

  • Im pretty sure they are.
  • The Qsound amp is just a regular amp that you can wire up to any cabinet. all it needs is 110v thats it.
  • I remember buying the Qsound amp and transformer on ebay and wired it up to a showcase cab that had a cpsII board in it. Click to expand…
