I’ve been meaning to tackle reproducing (maybe the better word is “producing”, seeing as it was never created) a Big Blue HF marquee. It’s just time and priorities in the way, yah’ know?

It was a really late release for CPS-2 hardware and I would not be surprised if Big Blue manufacturing had stopped well before 2003. They weren’t even running big marquees for popular games released in 98 (Alpha 3 and Marvel vs. Capcom).
P.S. I am kind of pushing this point and being a broken record, but I am sure Super and ST were also shipped in the first Q-Sound cabs as well. Click to expand…

Does anyone make repro marquee boxes for those? I just picked one up as well but mine is missing that piece. It does have the “neck” with three rings just like the one pictured above.

I just aquired a non Q-sound big blue and would love to convert it to SF2HF Anniversary Edition when I get enough funds. A tastefully done big blue marquee would be killer. As for wiring it for Q-sound would I have to get different speakers or will the originals suffice?

Finally acquired my grail cab thanks to Timiskander. The one in question is the same style as the pic he posted but it has the wider control panel. Looking at the underside, it was originally a 3-player control panel so I am guessing it was originally an AvP cab. Not sure what I will do with it yet. I still have a 6in1 switcher and Hyper Street Fighter AE, Super SF2, Xmen Vs SF, Marvel vs Capcom, Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter…and one other.
I really wouldn’t mind making a new 4 player panel with P1/2 with 6 buttons and P3/4 with 4 buttons. Then I could add the D&D games. That wide panel seems big enough to accomodate.

If anyone has a non-Q-Sound Big Blue that still has all original wiring, would you please tell me the color of wire that connects to your player 1 start button. There are a couple of wires cut on my harness, and no matter which CP wire I connect to it…nothing happens. I thought this was going to be easy, but I guess not…ha ha. Thanks in advance.

I have determined that my big blue is a right half of a 2-cab Saturday Night Slam Masters, so it’s no wonder it doesn’t have a header. I got it as kind of a throw in with some other stuff out of a warehouse and didn’t look closely enough at it to understand just what I was getting.
It will still be plenty usable though, but I will need to plug some holes on the left side and build or have built a custom header.

You ought to have that CPO scanned…maybe someone can touch it up and we’ll finally have a Slam Masters CPO for reproduction.

I can scan it, certainly. It might not be too tough given the right side to create a left side version from it as well. I think it’s in pretty good condition, though very dirty.
