- I’ve just looked up Dragon’s Lair 2 and yeah, I’d have to see one head on but it looks close.
- Was Dynamo contracted to make those cabs? It looks fairly close, DL2 came out before the early Big Blue esque cabs correct? Even has the giant Marquee and shape. Unfortunately the serial number sticker is quite gone.

- D&D? A look under the control panel might yield some clues. If there there is a previous 4 player arrangement, it would be Capt commando if there was only 1 button hole per stick. D&D would be 4 per player.
- Serial number 1 is pretty cool!

- I have the exact same cabinet and would like to know - mine is serial number 1 lol. Looks like Captain Commando is probably out because all the reject buttons are red. Click to expand…

- So I just picked up what I thought was a normal Big Blue for restore but on closer inspection, I noticed the front is not the normal Big Blue front, has the front been replaced? Is this not a Big Blue or is it a different type?

- If you go back about 4 posts on this thread, you’ll see that is a Dragons Layer 2 cab. It’s actually pretty similar. You COULD dress it up like a big blue, but probably restore correctly.

- Anyone have a spare cps2 joystick wire harness? Not a full harness, just the last half that connects to the buttons and stick? Just need 1.

- Recently picked up a dedicated 1st gen big blue
- The tag on the back cabinet was worn or peeled off some.
- But the one inside is still intact!!
- Game was converted to a golden tee at some point but still came with the original bezel and control panel sf overlay from factory under gtee
- Did a lot of research on these and I know most come with the long skinny coin doors but the earlier 1st gens ones I think have the 4 coin door slot door with 2 of the slots blocked off.
- I know the capt comm cabs came with the 4slot multi color coin door but I have seen the same looking door with two slots blocked off.
- There is a YouTube video of a guy showing his with the 4 coin slot and 2 blocked off and the dedicated ce sticker on back.
- Thinking I got an early one. Drove over 6 hrs each way for it and it ended up being free.
- A blessed day!
- I thought someone would find this info interesting. I have learned a lot from this thread and all the different big blue models and variables. Original flyer shown below.

- Nice pic up! Need moar pics!

- Thanks very stoked
- Always wanted a first gen
- Funny thing is I picked up a 2nd gen from the same seller about a year ago and thing was huge.
- I like the big blues a lot but the q sounds are really huge cabinets and just bears to move!
- Will surely post some pics soon
- Here is how it looked when I got it
- Got a bunch of boards and stuff with it
- Plan on restoring it to a CE back to its factory goodness
- However I’m going to make it a pi setup inside and multi sf setup since I enjoy cps2 and cps3 games

- I was thinking of that
- However I came across a guy who configured his pi to run what looks to be perfect emulation of the games
- I may still try to find a ce board someday as a backup.
- But I enjoy all the different fighters they made.

- Welcome Club G1 brutha!
- That flyer must be a marketing staging mistake. Shows the 4-slot coin door cab mounted with a SF2CE marquee. SF2CE only came with the 2 door coin slot as far as I know. Those marketing chicks that worked at Capcom back in the day probably didn’t know the difference when they were taking those pics for the marketing flyers.
- Wiring looms for 4 coin slots and 4 players is quite an endeavor. No way Capcom ships a 2-player/2 coin slot game in a 4-player/4 coin slot cab. But the hot marketing chick from the early 90’s probably walked back to the warehouse, told the scrubby warehouse dude to give her a BB cab. They gave here what they had on hand. She tells them “But I need the new Street Fighter 3!!” So they put in the marquee to make her happy and let her takes the pics for her marketing flyer. Boom! The mistake is immortalized.

- I thought the same thing until I really started researching it.
- The dedicated ce sf3 did come with wide 4 coin slot. But only two slots are used. The other 2 are blocked off.
- This is the second I have seen just like mine in the video.
- The door actually only has 2 wiring slots and the other two have metal plates. And were never wired. Also under the cp it’s a dedicated ce cpo and 2 player original config.
- Video proves it and even has the tag shows ce on back. At the 4:30 Mark you can see the wiring inside the door.
- Mine was serial 56 his is 120. Interesting early stuff for sure.
- I posted this for anyone else out there with what I assume is the early variable wide coin door with only 2 slots being used. These big blues have variables for sure. I assume they decided on the skinny long coin door for most of later production.

- Sounds reasonable. Captain Commando did predate Champion Edition by about 6 months. Marketing collateral has to be produced well in advance. Good chance there was a small run of pre-production/early production units using Captain Commando cabs that got out into the wild with the 4-slot coin doors modified for SF2CE.
- Either way, the thing that demarks a G1 BB as being an OG SF2CE the metal 2-player 6-button control panel, whether it has been slapped with a different CPO or has been hacked for other games, really is the proof that is needed. The serial sticker saying “Street Fighter 3” just cements it. And of course now, the 4-slot coin door can also be SF2CE (nice detective work).
- Curious, is your BB made of melamine or is it blue vinyl wrapped?
- I will look into that or maybe you can tell me by the pics
- It does seem to have peeled off a little in the back
- And yes it does have the 2 player 6 button config setup
- Except some bonehead slapped a trackball in the middle of it and a overlay right on top of the ce overlay
- I thought it was a cool variable and certainly a classic arcade
- I owned the 2nd gen big blue and it was a little too much for me. Having owned both now I much like the 1st gen sleekness a bit better
- The 2nd gen is cool but a much bigger heavier arcade.
- I can’t tell from your pic if it is vinyl wrapped or melamine. My guess (not based upon your picture) is that it is vinyl wrapped made by 3Koam.

- Is it possible to add a Q-sound amp to a G1 cab and experience the surround sound effect as intended in the G2 and older cabs? G1 cabs didn’t come with Q-sound amps, correct?
- I’m sure it’s possible
- Just would have to swap it all over
- One cabinet to another
