  • Is it the “letterboxed” version? With regular HF marquee graphic and black bars on top and bottom?

  • Yes, it’s the letterbox type. Which is the only original version I know of, just like the cabs in that old Game Pro promotional VHS tape. I’ll post a pic later.

  • Here it is. Has some creases, but should be good enough for making repros.

  • Here’s how it looks in relation to a big blue marquee. It may look smaller because of the camera angle, but it’s the same size. Well, actually this one is maybe 1/4 inch shorter or so in width. Maybe someone trimmed it? But nothing that can’t be fixed during reproduction.
  • Maybe Rich at This Old Game could help out.

  • It’s too bad they didn’t at least use the Champion Edition chalkboard pattern instead of the black.

  • Remind me after CAX and I’ll see what I can do to recreate the artwork…or create a Big Blue version that doesn’t have borders (which is what I was originally going to do). I imagine this letterboxed version is just the regular sized HF marquee with the black added.

  • Here is the one I am working on now. I don’t think I have seen one like it yet. I bought my lexan yesterday and a bit for the router. Did a repair on the back left corner of the CP that was busted up. Today I will try and router out a new CP overlay.

  • Looks like someone made a custom marquee box for it

  • This is what your marquee box should look like.
  • You shouldn’t have any trouble routing out a new CP overlay if you know how to use a router. I did mine and it was a piece of cake.

  • Reason I would hesitate to make someone else a CP overlay is because I had to do a repair to my CP and it’s not exactly perfect. This game is going to a location so for me it’s not that big a deal. I got this game from another operator that had it in a laundromat. I will have to ask him if he made the marquee box. In person it actually looks pretty decent. Good enough for a location.

  • Finished mine today. It came out pretty nice. I screwed the piece down with the normal screws that hold it in place and trimmed it and cut out the holes. The only snag I hit was when it came to routing the joystick holes. There are only metal plates there and nothing to guide the router. I traced the holes while it was mounted with a pen, unscrewed the panel, lined up the joystick holes one at a time with one of the button holes I had just routed, used blue painters tape to hold it in position and routed the joystick hole, then did the same for the other one.

  • The bit I used was 17.99 at Home Depot.

  • Fake Big Blue?
  • has anyone ever seen these? They look like big blues but the marquees are small and the speaker panel is wood instead of metal. I have an opportunity to get 3 of them, not sure if anyone has any experience with them.
