- This was said earlier, but don’t think really these cabs are dedicated either. Like I have a cab that says it is a SFA2 in the back, but I know it came out of the factory as an SSF2. The fact that it has an OG SSF2 marquee is one reason I believe this. But the telling point is the CPO. It has the standard globe overlay but the difference from this overlay and the globe NOS overlays you see for sale every now and again is that the joystick and button overlays are printed directly onto the overlay. They aren’t separate stickers applied on top of the globe overlay. Those joystick and button graphics are an exact positional fit too. That makes it a factory SSF2 even though the serial number in the back says it is SFA2. Oh, it also had an SFA2 manual stuffed in it too when I got it. And came with a SSA2 pcb. It came out of a roller rink.
- In any case, I know you’ll keep at your search. Here is mine which you can eliminate.

- I was wondering if you folks could confirm that this is a Gen 1 Big Blue:
- Unfortunately with the Photobucket embeds gone it’s tough to follow the guide and it seems like there are quite a few variants of the cab out there. Are the monitors in all of these 25”?
- It’s for sale in my local area for $500, and I’m considering it.
- Seems like there are a few drill (or bullet, who knows) holes in the bottom front, though I imagine that’s a relatively easy fix.
- People seem to like the big blues, and the price seems good based on my research.
- Grateful for any feedback.
- Thanks!

- That is definitely a Gen 1 Big Blue. The CP looks to be in fantastic shape and it looks like you are getting an OG marquee which is a plus. The T-molding is not OG. The holes in the cab look like they were left there after the security locks were removed when the cab went into a private collection.

- Hey NoAffinity, or anyone else with a Big-top Big Blue,
- I have a Snub-top Big Blue. Looks sort of retarded but I get why they made it. Can you take the dimensions of your Big-top Big Blue and post them here for me? Just need the 3 dimensions in the photo.
- I think I am going to convert mine to a Big-top. The mounting panel on mine is cracked to pieces anyway. Needs repair. Thanks!

- What is a snub top? You mean it’s just like that but without the marquee box?
- No, a little different than that.
- I guess I coined these terms since I have at least one of these with the exception of the Big-top Big Blue. Here is how I refer to them:
- Gen 1 Big Blue - All have the same silhouette. They are all made by 3Koam. Coin mechs vary on these from 2 slot slim to 4 slot wide. Some are vinyl wrapped over particle board. Some are made of melamine of either all blue or mostly blue. There is the Punisher cab with the same silhouette but is made of all black panels.
- Gen 2 Big Blues - Can have 1 of 3 Silhouettes
-
- Sharkfin - This is the OG Gen 2 Big Blue and is modeled after the Gen 1. Holds the a marquee fit for a Big Blue
-
- Big-box Top - Has detached marquee box. Marquee holds marquee with Big Blue dimensions. Likely, Capcom went with this design since the top can be detached making it more transportable
-
- Snub-top - Same as Big-box Top but dimensions of marquee box only holds a standard sized marquee.
- Pic of a Snub-top Big Blue attached.

- Hey all,
- Was wondering if any of you have run into a “molding” like this before? It came with a cabinet that was a MSH/MVC Big Blue, and I found it quite useful. It basically is like a steel/aluminum L brace. It holds down the plexi and protects the edge of the control panel. I’d love to see if I can order more for my other BB cabs, as I don’t like having to drill through my CPs to put a bolt in that holds the plexis down.
- Any help there will be appreciated. Pictures are of my current conversion from the MSH style to support Third Strike.

- On my Big Blue I used a counter sink bit to flush mount very small chrome flat head screws which actually looks really good with the diamond plate CPO. Click to expand…

- Was able to get the cabinet up and running ok. Plan to restore more in the future (Modify it to use Sanwa sticks and buttons for example), but good so far I think. I might actually keep the T-molding light gray as I think it goes well with the steel CPO & boat trim.

- Acblunden2, will get you those dimensions here in a couple hours. Also, noticed your label says ssfa2, not sfa2. No idea what that means…possibly a mis print?
- Measurements are: 16.5” tall, 11” wide at the bottom (shortest part), 12” wide at the top (widest part).
- Now I have a request. Can someone who is relatively certain that their joysticks are original, take a picture of them?
- I was at 82 arcade in Los Angeles last night. There was some pretty heavy comp on the gen1 big blue there, which is running hyper fighting. I had a couple good runs, staying on the machine against the comp. The sticks were really stiff, though, and a far cry from the sanwa’s that I’m used to playing on, and it was throwing my game off (excuses, excuses ). They worked find, for what they were, it just took a lot more effort to play on them. I’m fairly certain they were original, cuz I can’t imagine someone upgrading to those. Whenever I make the trek again, I want to get in some practice on similar sticks in advance. Any help appreciated.
