  • NoAffinity said: I was at 82 arcade in Los Angeles last night. There was some pretty heavy comp on the gen1 big blue there, which is running hyper fighting. I had a couple good runs, staying on the machine against the comp. The sticks were really stiff, though, and a far cry from the sanwa’s that I’m used to playing on, and it was throwing my game off (excuses, excuses ). They worked find, for what they were, it just took a lot more effort to play on them. I’m fairly certain they were original, cuz I can’t imagine someone upgrading to those. Whenever I make the trek again, I want to get in some practice on similar sticks in advance. Any help appreciated. Click to expand…

  • NoAffinity said: Acblunden2, will get you those dimensions here in a couple hours. Also, noticed your label says ssfa2, not sfa2. No idea what that means…possibly a mis print? Click to expand…

  • SillyB said: Exactly - equal parts concern for the damage to the factory control panel and the idea of Japanese sticks on the quintessential American fighting cab, but hey business is business. I only use NOS Happ supers/comps from the good old days or ILs in my fighting cabs. Anytime I’ve had anything else in one of my cabs decent players immediately complain it doesn’t feel right. • sorwah said: It’s on both of my CE cabs as well. I think before it was named “Champion Edition”, Dynamo just assumed it was the 3rd Street fighter since CE comes after SF2(WW). Click to expand…

  • sorwah said: Sadly, I’ve had the inverse happen. I get complaints when the sticks are 90s American style. The sad thing is the majority of my customers who DO prefer the American style, hate the Comp/IL style. They keep requesting P360s, which I can’t find at all, break down rather fast, and if I do find them they’re an arm&leg charge for what at most is a handful of customers.

  • KidVidiot said: Of course they weren’t original, do you know how much abuse those sticks get at a location like that over 3-4 years? I’m sure they’ve replaced parts in them (or the whole things) multiple times.

  • You oughta see me play basketball with a tennis ball. I’m like Michael Jordan, I mean that shit goes in EVERY TIME.
  • Just messing with you, I know it’s not the same thing.

  • NoAffinity said: Isn’t it typically the microswitches that fail? Is it not possible that microswitches have been replaced over time but the sticks are original? Honest question.
  • I could never have achieved the TG hyper fighting arcade world record on American sticks. Just saying… the WR was performed on my big blue as it sits in the pictures. I get the purism aspect of it, I am honestly going to switch back to the originals sticks and buttons once I give them a thorough cleaning, just for the sake of purism. But I will at the same time argue til I’m blue in the face about the greater precision of Japanese controls. That’s a whole separate thread, I suppose. Click to expand…

  • That depends. Does the ball have pre-programmed logic with varying degrees of randomness?

  • Kind of hard to be sure since the pics are gone from the guide but I think I have a gen 1 Big blue. Is there a name for the metal box (latch box?) that sits on the underside of the cpo that attaches to the clips to secure the cpo down onto the machine? Usually held on by two screws on the underside of the cpo?
