  • Side note as I saw it was posted a few pages back, but apparently there’s a showcase style Big Blue. A guy in Louisiana is looking to sell this xmen version. Click to expand…

  • Looks like I’m joining the club. I’ve got a lot of work to do.

  • The wood grain freaked me out a little bit, so thanks for easing my mind. The process has already started.

  • Ooooh, use citristrip if you are going to remove the vinyl. Cover it with plastic drop cloth so it doesn’t dry out. Leave it on for like 30 minutes, but be sure to start peeling of the vinyl before it dries. Then the stuff peels off easy. Saves you the mess and hard labor of sanding off the vinyl. Primer it with a few thick coats of oil based paint, then sand smooth if you are going to paint. Looks like some moisture was absorbed on the bottom. You’ll have to bondo the bottom edge and cut a new slot for the molding.
  • Your control panel is practially mint! Get those gun holsters off, the lexan off, and the CPO and you’ll be ready to go for a new CPO, lexan, buttons and sticks. I see you don’t have to do any hole patching at all on your panel. You have no idea how fortunate you are. Lucky.

  • That one you made is pretty nice but these things are built like a tank and the hardware and chains are pretty strong on here
  • This was a spare as I had another but yeah 10 bucks ain’t bad, a shame what happened to this one but hey it happens I mean these things are a few decades old Click to expand…

  • I do use citristrip, ignore my sander it was being used for other things. I have both sides cleaned up and have bondo all the holes. Just working on smoothing everything else now.

  • Glad to see that the blues are still getting some love. FYI the 2nd-4th machines are mine. The X-MEN Vs SF I converted to 3rd Strike, the MVC2 is still the same, and so is the 3 player can big blue, although I have them out at a retro game store, where the public can enjoy them.
