- Fun little tidbit I discovered. In preparation for applying the laminate, I discovered that the black disc/cover for the link hole of my Big Blue was actually metal with a built-in stud held in with a bracket and locknut, which makes me think this was the “factory” cover for these cabs that weren’t being linked. Pretty neat. I’m planning to reroute out that hole and put it back on after I’m done with the laminate.

- The last captains auction had this marquee for a big blue which I don’t think has been scanned/repro’d I know the game isn’t super popular but I have fond memories of playing it on the ps1 so I bought this and will have it scanned for preservation.

- Here’s an interesting big blue a friend of mine stumbled upon and sent me photos of. This darkstalkers cabinet seems to have been assembled directly by capcom. It’s laminated on one side and bare MDF on the other (not particle board). haven’t seen another big blue like it before.

- Is there a correct place to purchase laminate from for a Gen 2 Big blue, as well as control panel art?
- I had tall marquee one shipped to Australia and it’s arrived in pretty average condition as well as being damaged, so I’m weighing/pricing up a local restore versus just buying another.
- The laminate colour and artwork doesn’t exist here, so I’d need to source from the USA.
- Thanks

- The second gen is actually melamine, not laminate. I saw your pics; I think the best you can do is repair the top and color match paint. Otherwise “lapis blue” from Wilson art is supposed to be fairly close:
- Wilsonart D417-60-335-48X096, Lapis Blue Matte Finish 4 ft. x 8 ft. Vertical Grade Laminate Sheet
- Shop and Save on Wilsonart D417-60-335-48X096. Thickness: 0.028 inch, Color Group: Blue, Laminate Finish: 60-Matte, Pattern Number: D417, Laminate Type: Standard

- Sorry another question, how is the bottom of the marquee held in place?
- My cabinet seems to have a bracket with a screw in the middle but all the other pictures on here don’t seem to have this, and give the impression that the marquee sits down behind the timber section where the speakers are?
- Mine seems to sit on this bracket in the middle of it as it’s a U shape?

- Nearing the finish line for my Big Blue, I had ordered some repro “Capcom” side art, but then a friend of mine found some NOS art at CAX and grabbed a set for me. I was astonished by the difference. The NOS is so much more vibrant and rich in color. Also, the text is a bit off with the repro art. I never would have known without seeing them side by side. Check it out.

- Can anyone tell me if this Big Blue is missing the speaker covers or is this the way it should look?
- Sorry for the bad picture but that’s the only one the owner provided.

- Jump on that cab ASAP!!!!
- That is one of the most rare 2nd gen big blues known here as a NQS or “non q-sound” cabs. Theres a lot of chat about it in this thread, but in a nutshell there were some 2nd gen big blues that were made without the q-sound (stereo) equipment. They are wired for dual-mono speakers, like the first gen big blues. The grills are a dead giveaway. Also the top of the control panel near the sides is slightly different on the NQS version, again talk about it in this thread.
- To my knowledge there are only 3-4 known to this community, I own one.

Post #1217 — jimbodeanny, Aug 15, 2022
- So, I’ve got both the Mister FPGA w/MisterCade and Darksoft CPS2 multi (installed on Marvel Super Hereos) in the same cabinet on a switcher. I have both kick harnesses tied together and running into the two boards. (MSH/Darksoft is using a CPS2 kick harness and I’m using a CPS1 kick harness in the MisterCade.) Both work perfectly. However, MisterCade does not recognize the kick harness when I have the other one connected to the MSH board. Only when I remove it does the Mister recognize the kick buttons. On the flip side, MSH/Darksoft works just fine with both kick harnesses connected simultaneously. So I’m stumped as it doesn’t make sense to me. I’ve come across threads where people mention adding diodes, but I’m not sure that’s my issue here.
- Thoughts/suggestions? Is anyone else running two boards on a switcher in their cabinet? I know @Kidkaos mentioned having both the Darksoft and Mister.
- Also for those running more than one CPS2 PCB in their Big Blue (w/Qsound), how do you have the audio wired up? I’ve noticed that those Qsound amps are pretty touchy and don’t like more than one source connected (even if it’s powered off). Otherwise there’s horrible feedback/hum/buzz.

- TLDR: kick harness must be plugged into mister to register kicks.
- I believe I answered your question via pm.
- I don’t think the mister will register any kick harness that’s not directly connected to it. When I use the jnx atlas on the mister, the cps2/1 harness has to be connected to the mister to register it, hooked up to the atlas just as your switcher is, does not register kicks on mister either.
