- Ehhh nevermind…I’ve seen it with 2 slots before. 3 makes sense for AVP BUT that marquee topper is definitely not common. The snub tops I’ve seen Have this smaller Hs5-ish sized marquee size. Not the big Gen1/2 marquees like his. It’s possible Capcom hodge-podged cabs with spare parts the way they did cps2 boards to pump them out!

I have 4 Big Blue cabs and one was a project I bought from a friend that has been in my garage for about a year. I finally getting to it and was wondering about the coin door because I haven’t seen this on any other Big Blue but my cab has a 3 slot coin door. I believe AVP was a 3 player game but I believe this cab to have been originally a Captain Commando - at least the hacked up controller panel seems to have a 4 player set up. Anyone else seen this kind of a coin door on their Big Blue cabs. Also not sure if this has been brought up but I had to laminate my cabinet because the original vinyl was ripped up and I had to repair some broken edges on the cabinet - I think the laminate color is a really close match - it’s Formica Spectrum Blue - I just laminated it today l. Lastly I will need a reproduction controller panel - I’ll reach out to Jeff at XL Arcades to see if he can help.

- His coin door looks like a 3 slot only which seems odd unless it was some production run decision to not use the 4 slot door with one slot covered. Click to expand…

- Hey guys - I was going through this thread and I saw that for a while people were asking for a Hyper Fighting Big Blue Marquee. I know Szabos has one but I wanted to make one that suited my personal taste - like his I also was inspired by the original hyper fighting marquee. Was wondering what you guys think? The file I am putting together is high res and I have a printer friend who is looking into printing this for me on plexiglass. If everything goes well I am looking to create a matching CPO and possibly sell some via a website I am working on. I’m still cleaning up the “Fighting” and I plan to shift and resize things a bit before I call it ready. I did the halftones in photoshop but I’m gonna have to do them in illustrator I think. My buddy had a NOS Champion Edition CPO - I’m going to scan it and work on some ideas for a Hype Fighting CPO.

- I currently play SF2 on my gen1 big blue. I have a chance to pick up a red z back. For those of you who have owned both these cabs which one did you prefer playing SF on?

- Easily Big blue. Zback control panel is too angled to the rear for my taste. I prefer a more level control panel.

- I have a thing for Z-Backs, but yeah: Big Blue is the better way to play. A lot of room. Panel is at a nice angle. Q-Sound. Etc, etc, etc.
- Bonus opinion: From an owning standpoint, they both have pros n’ cons. Z-Backs are a bitch if you have to access the back of the monitor (or you drop something to the bottom of the cabinet), but are so much easier for swapping game PCBs through the front. Big Blues you can access damned near every inch of the cabinet … as long as you don’t mind moving the big fucking thing (at some point I’m going to commit to a multi-kit and be done moving these things just to swap games).

- Truth. I have my darksoft cps2 multi in my 1st gen. I think the ideal setup would be cps1 multi in my 1st gen and cps2 multi in my 2nd gen, but money is an issue.

- Probably needed a lot more development and hardware. The CPS1 has a LOT more variation in the hardware than cps2. Also DS included Q-sound support so that the entire cps1.5 library is supported. Before this kit, the 1.5 boards were very rare and expensive, most going for six to seven hundred each. It’s an amazing kit and DS is known for top notch quality. Like what @Kidkaos said; in 2018 the cps2 kit was around $350-400 and you could get a CPS2 A+B set for around $200 for common boards. Today it’s $600 For the kit. Inflation is real.

- I remember a more innocent time, before the CPS2 multi came out, when I thought these kits were going to make games more accessible and the boardsets more affordable.
- WHOOPS!

- If you consider the cost of a Punisher board and sf2ce it seems having those 2 games alone in a legit big blue cab that werent emulated would make it worth it i guess.
- Id rather restore/build a punisher cab and throw a few extra buttons on a repro metal CP and drop 750 on a darksoft im thinking. Or a sf2ce, take your pick.
- One of my cabs is going to be a captain commando and nothing else, not because i love the game but because ive aquired everything for it.
- The punisher cab, its a toss up right now.

- Truth be told, i don’t need a cps1 kit, Punisher plays just fine with the cps2 kit
