- Hold up. So SOME cps1.5 (q-sound) games have been ported to the cps2 multi (punisher). I believe SF2 HF as well, but it uses the super street fighter 2 sound set. Also final fight AE (3 player hack). That does not mean the entire cps1 library work on the cps2 multi. Each game has to be converted. Broadly speaking, if you want 100% true to the orignal PBC you need to use the correct multi. Otherwise you’re blurring the lines between this and emulation.

- Punisher plays perfectly fine, CE and HF do not audio quality-wise.
- Did not want to mislead anyone. The cps1.5 Punisher does play well on cps2.

- Sides were painted black when I got it.
- Odd part is when I peeled back the vinyl on the control panel box there was wood grain on the wood, so I guess 3KOAM was grabbing whatever they had around the shop.View attachment 710703 Click to expand…

- Recessing for an IL joystick for a Big Blue?
- I’m building a control panel from scratch for a Big Blue and planning to use an IL joystick. I’m going to use 3/4” cabinet-grade plywood, MDO, or MDF.
- Now, I’m trying to figure out the dimensions to recess from the bottom of the control panel to accommodate the base of the joystick. What should be the depth of the cut from under the control panel? Meaning, how much plywood should I leave between the base and the part of the stick that appears above the surface of the control panel?

- kcorcoran said: Since sticks mount direct to the metal cp youre not going to be able to get it at the same height of metal over plywood like the original. Best bet is to route half the wood so you have just over 1/4” wood to mount to. You wont have much wood to screw into though unless you do carriage bolts thru the top Click to expand…

- Also, for this control panel style, does anyone have these measurements…
-
- from the joystick hole to the back of the control panel (the edge near the bezel)
-
- from the joystick hole to the front of the control panel (near where the player stands)
- And I’m noticing that some control panels have the start button just above the three-button rows while others have the start button closer to the screen. Is there a specific standard? Do only 4-player panels with 2-player setup have the button closer to the screen? Thanks!

- kcorcoran said: this is a trace of a SF2CE control panel blank repro I bought a while ago. I didn’t mark measurements but this is 1:1.
- if you want to print at full size and trace onto your wood that’d work… or you could open in illustrator and take your measurements.
- keep in mind, the top of this trace includes about an extra inch of metal to allow for the radius bend and the hem so it sits flat on the glass so best to measure form the bottom up, not the top down.
- since you’re cutting yours from wood, you’ll need to angle the top edge of your wood so it fits close to the glass without a gap. (which is usually accounted for with the bent metal CP. Click to expand…

- kcade said: Thanks for sharing these pictures! I’m trying to cut a new top panel, so I’m trying to understand what the top panel looks like without the marquee bracket. Here’s a render. Does the top panel end somewhere around the red line, green line, or somewhere else? I’m aiming to figure out how thick the bracket is, but I can’t find a source for it. Click to expand…

- I’ve searched through this thread and apparently can’t find it.
- In the post referenced here (https://forums.arcade-museum.com/threads/capcom-big-blue-guide.293609/page-18#post-3615202) what is the thickness of the particle board square that goes under the cardboard character bezel on a 1st gen big blue?
- Was thinking 1/2”. Anybody have one that can give approx measurements?

- Just a wood cleat; give me a sec and I’ll find a pic
- edit I lied. Just picture a small piece of wood stapled/glued to the inside of the door.
